Lance is Officially Done!!!

Lance graduated from Utah State University with his MBA!!! We are so excited for him, and us! He walked at the graduation ceremony in May and just finished his last class on Saturday! We are so proud of him and are so grateful for all of the support everyone has given us! THANK YOU family and friends! There are pictures below of our little Lancey and some other things we have been up too!

Here is our family on Mother's Day! Emery made me that Mom sign in Nursery. She isn't old enough for nursery but loves it and doesn't care if we are there or not!

Emery on Sunday in the new dress that my mom bought her. It is so cute! Thanks again Mom!

Lance has been playing softball on Thursday nights with some of his friends. Here he is making a Sweet stop at first! "Batter out at first!" Way to go Lance!

Emery Looovvves the water! She gets so excited in the pool and loves every minute of it. She is very brave and will jump to us from off the side into the pool! She also loves to put her head down like she is going to drink the water. Very funny!

So, I decided to go back to school this summer. Any guesses what kind of school I am doing? Yep, Cosmetology! I love it! And I have the best little client to practice on!

Here was the outcome! Not bad for Emery taking half of them out before they were dry!

Emery turned one a few weeks ago. I can't believe it! She had such a great birthday. We had a little party at our house with all of the family and she had a ball! She loved it. She loved the attention, the gifts and the cake! My good friend, Heather (heathergeorgephotography.com), took Emery's one year pictures. They turned out so cute! I Just love them. Christmas and 9 Months Old

Emery went in for her 9 month doctor’s appointment and is healthy as can be. Here are her stats:

Height: 30 inches (99%)
Weight: 19 lbs (52%)

Emery’s 1st tooth broke through a couple of days ago. She is getting so big. Her favorite thing to do is crawl around and get into everything.

Snowbird

We took Emery up to Snowbird for her first ride on the tram. Here we are on our way up.

My sister and her family came with us and was nice enough to take some pictures. This is a view from the top of the tram.

So... after we were done walking around at the top we decided to venture back down the mountain. Lance talked me into hiking down thinking it would only be an hour or so. Thank goodness my sister, Liesel, stocked us up on fruit snacks and granola bars because after a few wrong turns and 2 1/2 hours later we arrived at the lodge!

It was a lot of fun and a beautiful day. Emery was such a trooper. She even got in a nap on the way down.

6 Months Old!

"Yeah I'm 6 Months Old!"

Emery turned 6 months old 2 weeks ago, but she just went to her 6 month check up and here are her stats.

Height: 27.5 inches (91%)

Weight : 17 lbs (61%)

She is such a happy girl.
A few of her favorite things to do are:

play peek-a-boo
clap her hands
talk as loud as she can
laugh at Lance while they play
get up on her hands and knees
suck on a celery stick
watch football with Lance
sit in the shopping cart like a big girl

Time for Blogging?

I know I haven't been the best blogger lately, but I feel like I haven't had any time to do anything. My last day at work is fast approaching and I can't wait! I will be done on October 16 and then I get to be with Emery all day everyday. I am hoping that once I am done working I will have more time to blog. That way I can have some where to go when I need a reminder of all the great experiences I have had. It seems like ever since I became a mom my mind doesn't work as good as it use to. I am much more forgetful.

(It may have been that way before, but at least now I have something to blame it on!) These are just a few somewhat recent pictures of Emery. She goes to the doctor on Friday for her 6 month checkup. I will be sure to blog about that. I know! I can't believe she is 6 months already! Isn't she cute?

Emery Laughing

Saturday was such a nice day that we decided to go hang out in the back yard. Our neighbor’s dog was over trying to give Abbie some much needed exercise. The dogs were chasing each other around barking as they ran. For some reason Emery thought it was so funny. She laughed and laughed and continued to laugh even when we got the video camera out. The loud barking is our little Abbie, who thinks that when she runs she has to bark. Emery seems to be a little scared at first, but eventually gets a kick out of it.

Bee's Game

My parents took my family to the Bee's Game last Monday and boy was it fun. It was Emery’s first game and I was excited because she got to where her cute Nike outfit that Amy and Blake gave her.
Emery loves baseball! Here is my family except for Lance who is taking the picture, and my sister, Liesel, and her 2 year old boy, Canyon. They were off riding the train. He loves' trains.
Look how much fun my brother in law, Spencer, was having! Thanks again Mom and Dad, we'll have to do it again next year!

Antelope Island

Lance is now working 4 ten hour days, which means he has every Friday off. A couple of Friday's ago we decided to go to Antelope Island. We had never been there before and we thought it would be fun. Here is what we did

Emery rode the bison.
Lance and Emery went out into the Great Salt Lake and wondered why that guy ahead of them went out in nothing but his undies. Don't worry Lance covered Emery's eyes.
Emery and I enjoyed the nice overcast day.
Lance held Emery up in the wind and she loved it.
I couldn’t decide which picture, so I put both in.

After the beach we went to the ranch where I tried to rope some cattle.

Emery is growing up so fast, I can't believe she is already 4 months old. She had her 4 month check up today at the doctors and here are her stats:

Length: 26.5 inches (97%) Yep she is one tall girl.

Weight: 15 lbs (75%)

Pioneer Day

I love the July Holiday’s! Pioneer Day is a lot more fun since we bought our home just a block from Liberty Park and the Days of 47 parade route. Every year we have a big breakfast at our home and then we all head down to the parade.

This was Emery’s first July 24th and she had a ball! She is such a good baby and will go to anyone that wants to hold her.
Here is Lance's brother Blake. He attends all of our get togethers in hopes of making the blog. Here he is just relaxing in the shade next to his beautiful wife, Amy! My mom makes sure that she arrives early so she can eat and then save our secret spot in the shade. Thanks mom!
My parents always have my family over for dinner. Here is a picture of Emery and her cousin, Owen.
Lance's Dad loves fireworks just like Lance does. He has an annual dinner at the mortuary and then a wonderful firework show that follows. (Lances family owns Jenkin-Soffe mortuary if you are wondering why we get together at a mortuary.)

New Hat

Emery got a new hat last week. She is really good about wearing it. I think she knows that she looks super cute in it so she doesn’t fight it!
I am really enjoying dressing her up in whatever I want too. Soon she will be wanting to pick out her own clothes. I know I did it to my mom, so I am sure it will happen to me.

New way of sleeping

Emery has decided that she likes to sleep with her face covered. She started doing this about a week ago. We'll place her in the middle of the crib, but she finds her way to the side, and pulls the bumper over her face. I think she is tired of us constantly looking at her!

Emery's Rolling Over

I finally figured out how to get our videos from the camera to the blog! Here is a clip of Emery rolling over. She started rolling over a couple of weeks ago, and it scared me to death the first time because I wasn't expecting it. She loves to roll over now and does it every time she is on the ground. She rolls from her back to her stomach and then starts to talk. She likes being on her stomach so she hasn't figured out how to go from her stomach to her back. I can tell she thinks it is pretty cool because she won't stop doing it. Her favorite time is while her diaper is being changed.

Good Job Emery, but stop growing up so fast!

Happy 4th of July

I love July 4th! It was Emery's first 4th celebration and boy did we celebrate! Every year our ward puts on a wonderful breakfast, which we haven't missed yet. After the breakfast we head to the Murray parade where we sit with Lance's Family. Lance and his brother's always end up throwing candy at the Robinson family who sits directly across from us every year. After the parade we went to Derek's (our nephew) baseball game. He did a great job! Then we went to Lance's mom's house for more celebrating and food. We finished the night off at Ted and Kristy's for fireworks.

Fun time at Liberty Park

Lance and I have a house right by Liberty Park, which we just love. Here is Emery and I at the 7 Canyon's part of the park
My sister, Liesel, and her kids, Hayden, Bridget and Canyon, came with us to play in the water at the park. The 7 canyons are a smaller version of the Canyons that we have here in the Salt Lake area. During the summer they fill them up with water and they all run down to the lake. The kids love running through the water and playing in the lake.
Here is my sister again with Bridget and Canyon. As you can see Canyon is not afraid of anything and loves to run around. We all had a lot of fun!

3 Months Old

I can't believe Emery is already 3 months old. Here she is on her 3 month birthday.
Emery is such a great baby. She is usually happy and is a good sleeper. She is like her mom and loves to sleep all night long!
I love this picture of her. She looks so sweet. Right before her 3 month birthday she started to roll over. She rolls from her back onto her belly, and loves to do it when her diaper is getting changed. She is so much fun!

Lance's Alaska Trip

Real Salt Lake Adventure

Lance, Emery and I went to our first Real Soccer Game on Wednesday! (thanks Kenny!) As you can see Emery slept through the first half of the game.
The game was fun to watch and we had great seats. (thanks again Kenny!)
Here's Emery with Lance cheering on Real! She did really well during the game. The only time she cried is when Real scored a goal and then the referee took it away. Everyone was yelling and screaming which made it very loud. We are not sure if she was upset from the noise or that they took the goal away!

Father's Day

Happy Father’s Day Lance! Here is a picture of Lance in his father’s day gift. He ordered himself a hammock Chair and when it arrived yesterday while Lance was at class I was so excited. I wrapped it all up and hid it in our basement. When Lance got home from class he checked his e-mail. He had received an e-mail letting him know that the Hammock was left on our porch this morning. He ran outside to look for it, but couldn’t find it anywhere. I decided to tell him that I had it all ready for Father’s Day, so he didn’t worry all day about it. Lance was so excited that it came before Father’s Day and wanted to set it up so it was all ready for his first official Father’s Day. I let him open it one day early as another Father’s day present.
Here is Lance and Emery relaxing on Father’s Day. I was in charge of supplying Lance with cold beverages.

I am very blessed to be married to Lance! He is the best husband and an even better Dad to Emery! We love you Lance!

First Time Swimming!

We took Emery swimming for the first time yesterday at Grandma Kay’s pool.
As you can see from the picture she didn’t like the pool at all the first time in.
So, we got her out of the pool and put on her hat and sunglasses to see if that would help.
The second time we put her in the pool she did much better. She was relaxed, and enjoyed the nice weather.
Once Emery was done in the pool we put on her cute robe and slippers to help her dry off.

One More Year!!!

Lance is currently going to school at Utah State University to get his MBA (Masters of Business Administration). The picture above is his first day of class last fall. He is now studying for his final, which he has tomorrow, while I blog. After he finishes his test tomorrow morning he will only have one more year! He has done very well in all of his classes and is known around the house as “smarty pants”. It will be so nice, in a year, when Lance is finally done and we'll have him back on Friday nights, Saturday Mornings, and all the weeknights he spends studying. Congratulations Lance and keep up the good work!

New Hair Cut

Here is my new hair cut. Kay came over and helped us take some pictures to show everyone. Poor Lance wrote his first blog on Sunday about how much he liked my new hair cut, but I made him take it off because I wasn't quite feeln' it yet!
Now that I am use to it and it is so fast to do, I am loving it.
Yep, That dark hair at the bottom is my natural color, but don't tell anyone ;)

Emery's Blessing

Lance blessed Emery today and everything went perfect. Emery was good the entire time. During the blessing she was awake and quiet. She just looked at Lance while he blessed her. My mom made Emery's blessing dress. It was the same pattern that she made for me when I was blessed. I love how it turned out and Emery looked so beautiful in it.

Two Months Old

Emery is now two months old. I can’t believe how fast it has gone having her around. She is so much fun and I am so blessed to have such a wonderful baby!

Emery went to her two month well child check today. She is very healthy so far and is doing great. She is currently 12 lbs 6 oz (84%) and 24 inches (95%). She is growing so fast and has been such a fun baby. She is smiling more and more and is nice enough to let her mom and dad sleep for about 6 hours straight at night. (Knock on wood!!!)

Emery had to get some immunizations today at her check up. That is such a sad thing for a parent to have to watch. Emery was smiling at the nurse right before the shots. Then that happy face quickly changed to a huge frown along with crying and tears. Emery seemed okay shortly after the doctor and fell asleep for quite a while. The doctor warned me that she might be fussy and may need some Tylenol. I didn’t think much of it until she woke up from her nap screaming. She has never cried like that before and when I picked her up I could tell that it just made it worse. Thanks to Jamie, coworker who gave me a wonderful baby shower gift, I had some Tylenol drops handy. Emery is now back to smiling, at least until she needs more of the Heaven sent Tylenol.

Swimsuit Model

Emery got this adorable swimsuit from our neighbor, Becky. I had to try it on her even though it is raining outside. I have always loved the sun and water so I am hoping to pass that along to Emery. She is starting too really like her baths and she loves her new swimsuit. Next test will be the pool, if it ever gets warm enough!

Mother's Day

Happy Mother’s Day! Here is a picture of Emery’s Grandma Powell, Aunt Liesel, myself, and Emery on Mother’s Day. We all went to my Mom and Dad’s ward. It was Emery’s first time to church and she loved being held by everyone.

It was my first Mother's Day as a Mom and it was great! Lance and Emery were so good to me. I got to sleep all night as Lance took care of Emery! I am so glad to be a mom and I am loving every minute of it!

Update on Emery

Emery had a doctor's appointment on May 1, 2008. She was 10 lbs 3 oz and 22 1/2 inches long, which means that she is tall and heavy for her age! She is a healthy, happy baby.

Emery started to smile back at us last week! We haven’t been able to catch it on camera but once we do it will be posted! She has also learned that she has a voice and likes to use it!

While Emery was sleeping today, she got this huge grin on her face and she started to laugh. It was so cute and it made my day!

Abbie and Emery

Abbie and Emery love to go on walks together. Abbie won't let us move the stroller unless she gets to go!
